Job Description

Position Objective: Strength and Conditioning Coach (SCC) tasks and goals at designated Army installation are to reduce medical attrition and increase Military readiness. SCCs will improve brigade readiness through Army‑specific functional fitness training programs, in accordance with FM 7-22 and designed to meet each brigade’s Program of Instruction (POI) requirements. Services will target musculoskeletal injury prevention and reconditioning education. Duties and Responsibilities: Work as part of the H2F Performance Team to develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive, periodized education and services program synchronized with brigade and battalion training calendars. Success is determined by the ability of the brigade to perform its combat mission. Perform services in accordance with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) Scope of Practice. Be embedded at the brigade level; most work will be performed in a military training environment (fitness centers/gyms, brigade or administrative areas, outdoors, ranges, field training environments, and at the SPRC). Observing brigade and below (battalion, company, platoon, squad, team) specific training events such as obstacle courses, combatives, and training areas. Support quality assurance efforts, ensuring all work performance aligns with H2F objectives. May be embedded within H2F Performance Teams across brigades at various Government installations. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university; a degree in a related field is highly desired. Passing score from the NSCA Board of Certification as a CSCS or from the CSCCA as an SCCC. Three years of relevant SCC work experience within the last five years. Relevant experience includes developing and executing task‑specific functional injury control and health/well‑being programs for groups of athletes or DoD/Department of Homeland Security/Department of Justice entities focused on a common sport or mission performance goal. Internship or graduate work up to one year may be considered. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with AED certification. Web‑based classes do not meet requirements. U.S. citizenship. Ability to pass and maintain Tier 1 security clearance. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English effectively with Soldiers and H2F staff. Physically able to lift and manipulate loads and weight plates up to 45 pounds. Demonstrated initiative, interpersonal skills, and social sensitivity to work with Soldiers from diverse backgrounds. Ability to operate a computer using Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. Proficiency with unit SharePoint sites. This job description is not an exhaustive list of duties.
