Summary of Position


The Theatre Arts and Dance Department is seeking Instructors for Fall semester.

Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties.

The instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program.

**Payment is based on the credit hour/contact hour and class ratio as assigned to you by the department chair. RRCC starts at $1,048.57/credit hour.

Essential Responsibilities

Duties of the Theatre Arts and Dance Instructor position include, but are not limited to:

Develop lectures, activities, and assessments that lead students to the successful attainment of identified course competencies. Teach assigned classes in keeping with community college philosophy. Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students in the college learning management system-Desire2Learn (D2L).

One week prior to the first day of class, provide the Department Chair with a copy of the course syllabus (template will be provided). Provide students with an accessible syllabus for the course that includes all necessary components of the RRCC syllabus insert, student learning outcomes, and a tentative course schedule. Conduct student evaluations of instruction in accordance with established policies and procedures at the end of the semester.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Theater or comparable arts program from an accredited institution or comparable professional experience AND has, or qualifies for, post secondary CTE credential including 2000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Theater from an accredited institution. A minimum of 2000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 5 years.

Work Environment and Typical Work Schedule (Dates and Times): Classes are typically scheduled Mondays through Thursdays between 9 am and 3 pm. Each class meets twice a week for an hour and fifteen minutes.

Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Classes may be held days, evenings, and weekends.

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with , accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.

Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security.
