Job Title: SQL Server DBA (no c2c)

Location: Lafayette, IN (onsite only)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Theoris is seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with exceptional SQL expertise to join our client’s project. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a data-driven environment and is passionate about optimizing database performance and ensuring data integrity. While strong DBA fundamentals are important, we are open to training the right candidate in DBA-specific responsibilities. The most critical requirement is deep, hands-on SQL knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Manage and maintain SQL Server and/or DB2 environments.
• Perform database backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies.
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to support application interfaces and data integration.
• Utilize data modeling tools to design and maintain logical and physical data models.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Expert-level SQL skills – this is the most critical requirement.
• Solid understanding of relational database concepts and RDBMS fundamentals.
• Experience with SQL Server or DB2 as a DBA (both is a strong plus).
• Familiarity with backup/restore processes, replication, and performance tuning.
• Experience with stored procedures and troubleshooting database issues.
• Proficiency with data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, or similar).
• Strong interface and integration experience.
• Prefer exposure to third-party tools such as Boomi, Pentaho, Tosca, or similar.
• Willingness to learn and grow DBA-specific skills under mentorship.
• Prefer experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
