About the Role
The Company is seeking an SVP, Operational Risk Senior Officer with a focus on Collections and Recovery Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the oversight and independent challenge of the company's operational risk management practices within the US Personal Banking sector. This includes ensuring the first line of defense demonstrates effective risk management disciplines, such as strong operational risk identification, controls, and monitoring. The role involves proactively engaging with business partners, independently evaluating key data elements that inform the risk profile, and providing insights into trends, control failures, and operational loss event drivers. The SVP will also be expected to establish and manage operational risk policies, propose strategies, and governance processes to minimize losses from inadequate controls, fraud, and potential bankruptcy. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in the financial services industry, with at least 5 years in risk management, preferably in the 2nd line of defense. A robust understanding of operational risk management frameworks, industry standards, and regulatory requirements is essential. The role requires a leader with a proven track record of effectively assessing and managing competing priorities, as well as the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders. The candidate should be comfortable in dynamic environments, capable of strategic thinking, and have excellent communication skills. A Bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred, and the candidate should have a strong background in consumer operations processes, including collections, loss mitigation, and third-party oversight.
