Helen Keller Services for the Blind is currently seeking a full-time School Psychologist to join our Children Learning Center located in Brooklyn, NY.

SUMMARY

Responsible for the execution of HKS’s Mission, goals and objectives through representing the agency and acting as a full time School Psychologist in the Children’s Learning Center. Assuring the up to date educational, developmental, social emotional, and behavioral evaluations of students enrolled in our early intervention and preschool programs. Occasional completes evaluations through the early intervention and preschool program for students who are not enrolled in our program. Must demonstrate a sincere commitment to HKS’s Mission and Values and conduct him/herself at a high professional level at all times and project a positive image of HKS internally and externally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the development and execution of function/program within his/her span of control in accordance with HKS’ Mission and Strategic Objectives. Specifically responsible for:

• Building strong relationships with students and families to support academic, social, and emotional success.
• Conducting psycho-educational evaluations and any additional assessments needed for a comprehensive student profile.
• Evaluating students seeking early intervention and preschool services.
• Develop, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans and other behavioral supports.
• Provide crisis management support when needed.
• Lead a school-based support team to ensure student progress and maintain multitiered behavioral and social-emotional supports.
• Assist with Social History reports during the Kindergarten IEP process.
• Plan and deliver professional development sessions for staff as needed.
• Serve as a member of the school leadership team.
• Represent the Children’s Learning Center at IEP and Kindergarten IEP meetings to help determine appropriate student placement.
• Monitor student skill development, assess risks during activities, and intervene to ensure student safety.
• Communicate and share relevant updates with families via ClassDoJo and email.
• Assist in composing and submitting social histories for the Children’s Learning Center.
• Participate in monthly teacher meetings and all full staff meetings.
• Uphold a professional demeanor and contribute to the upkeep of personal and shared workspaces.

Responsible for other duties as may be assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor and/or the Director/Executive Director of the Department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited program required. 0-5 year’s experience required. Must be extremely organized, detailed and have excellent communication skills.

Strong computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certification: Must have and maintain a valid/current New York State Certification as a School Psychologist (provisional or permanent).

$80,000 - $90,000 Annually
