Job Description

Research Associate

The Research Associate plays a supporting role to the Public Markets Manager Research Team (PMT), the group within Meketa that performs due diligence on equity, fixed income, and hedge fund managers. The Research Associate is responsible for collecting and synthesizing data to help with manager research analysis and gathering information to produce client deliverables, with a specific focus on supporting initiatives and projects for clients focused on sustainability, diversity and/or emerging managers.

The position is an entry-level to intermediate-level investment position. The Research Associate is expected to progressively increase his or her level of knowledge regarding capital markets broadly, public markets manager research, and firm-specific practices. An individual who is proactive and detail-oriented, with intellectual curiosity, integrity and strong communication and organizational skills, will be well positioned to succeed in this role.

The individual will work with colleagues on the Public Markets Manager Research team, the firm's consultants, and other investment professionals in carrying out the position's duties. Meketa is flexible about where the Research Associate works. The Associate could be located in our Westwood, MA, Portland, OR, Carlsbad, CA or Chicago, IL offices. The position reports to the firm's Director of Research.

Key responsibilities:
  • Independently gather, organize, and verify data related to investment managers and strategies
  • Track and monitor diverse, sustainable and emerging managers in which PMT has met with and/or our clients are invested
  • Lead the management and tracking of Meketa's annual DEI and sustainability surveys
  • Assist with implementing, communicating and improving upon Meketa's sustainability initiatives
  • Meet with and evaluate the capabilities of managers that offer sustainable strategies
  • Contribute to the development of research and updates on the relevant areas within PMT
  • Work with Research Analysts and Consultants on client projects as needed
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • CFA charterholder or candidate preferred
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately and independently under time pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well with employees from other company departments
  • Outstanding writing, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven computer skills including facility with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Fact Set, Morningstar Direct, and eVestment

Pay Range: $71,000 - $80,000 per year
