Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and Illinois-licensed Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide remote instructional services to students with visual impairments. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching braille, orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and individualized education plans (IEPs). This role offers the flexibility to work from home while making a meaningful impact on students educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students visual impairments via remote platforms.
Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in collaboration with families, schools, and related service providers.
Teach braille literacy, assistive technology use, and daily living skills as appropriate.
Conduct assessments to determine students needs and progress.
Provide ongoing munication and support to parents, caregivers, and educational teams.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in pliance with Illinois state regulations.
Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Teaching License for Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
Experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments.
Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility strategies.
Excellent munication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a remote teaching schedule effectively.
Reliable internet connection and a dedicated remote workspace.
Preferred:
Experience with teletherapy or remote instruction platforms.
Familiarity with Illinois special education laws and procedures.
