**Job Description:**
In the Office of College Marketing and Communications, the Photographer is responsible for bringing Holy Cross to life through creative and high-impact photos. The Photographer will own the creation, management and delivery of innovative marketing photography to be used on the College's website, on social media, in print publications, advertising, presentations and events. The Photographer will manage the College's collection of photo assets and serve as the administrator of the College's digital asset management system.
Reporting to the Managing Editor of Digital Content, the Photographer will be a key member of a multi-platform content team charged with working collaboratively to maximize storytelling and support strategic marketing initiatives. As part of this team, the Photographer will brainstorm, propose and develop new photography initiatives and work closely with key stakeholders to shoot and edit high-quality photos consistent with the Holy Cross brand and institutional goals. This role will partner closely with the Multimedia Producer on visual storytelling.
The successful candidate approaches assignments with passion, creativity and professionalism. Time management, organization, and a strong attention to detail are essential. The candidate should also demonstrate a desire to stay current on industry trends and software.
This position will require a flexible schedule and night and weekend work to capture the dynamic nature of campus.
**Major Areas of Responsibility**
In addition to planning and producing photography projects, the photographer/producer will:
* Seek new and creative methods, platforms and media to use photography to support the College's strategic marketing priorities.
* Work in collaboration with outside photographers for major College initiatives and publications (including Holy Cross Magazine, the College website, College events, student recruitment materials, and alumni fundraising materials), assisting when necessary in photo shoots and capturing imagery for publication.
* Assist College clients in the creation and execution of photography that furthers their specific communications needs.
* Manage Resource Space, the College's digital asset management system for archiving images, including tagging/labeling all images and footage so that the library is well organized and easy to access. Train and provide assistance to system users.
* Curate digital imagery for use on the College website, holycross.edu.
* Assist in managing the photography budget for the department.
* Train, manage, and mentor a revolving team of student interns.
* Work with departments and divisions across campus to ensure that people, events, meetings, special occasions, campus physical spaces, structures, architectural and historical details are captured visually for use in media, advertising, publications and electronic media.
* Fulfill internal department/program and external partner requests for archived photos and video footage.
* Collaborate with colleagues on the Communications and Marketing team, as well as with campus partners, to help select images for various print and electronic applications.
* Direct shoots as required, and when appropriate.
* Interact with vendors and other key positions on the Communications and Marketing team to integrate photography and maintain visual identity standards - throughout all available communication channels including the website and social media.
* Maintain and catalog all photography and video equipment.
* Keep updated on current trends and technologies related to photography and videography.
**Requirements:**
**Minimum Qualifications**
In addition to a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Photography, Visual Arts, New Media or other relevant field of study, the Photographer will be someone who:
* Has at least 3-5 years experience with techniques, principles and equipment of still photography. Previous experience working with higher education institutions is a plus.
* Has expert knowledge of all aspects of production: shooting, lighting, editing, compression,
* Advanced knowledge of image and graphic creation and manipulation
* Embraces travel and work outside normal business hours or on weekends when required or when the timing provides the best opportunity for high impact photos.
