Job Title: Onsite School Sign Language Interpreter

Position Type: Full-Time, Onsite

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and qualified sign language interpreter to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. As an onsite interpreter, you will work directly with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring effective munication in educational settings. This position involves interpreting classroom lectures, discussions, and other educational activities to facilitate access to curriculum and promote student success.

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpreting services in various educational settings, including classrooms, meetings, and school events.
• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support students' academic and social-emotional development.
• Prepare and adapt instructional materials to meet the needs of deaf or hard of hearing students.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and provide input on acmodations and support strategies.
• Maintain professional development and stay updated on best practices in sign language interpreting and deaf education.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification) or equivalent credential.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture.
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings.
• Strong munication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to diverse student needs.
• Familiarity with educational technology and assistive devices for deaf/hard of hearing students is a plus.
