Job Title: Nuclear R&D Engineer Location: Los Alamos, NM Type: Contract Contractor Work Model: Onsite Security Clearance: Active Q clearance System One is hiring a Nuclear R&D Engineer for a long-term contract role on-site in Los Alamos, NM. What You Will Do: The successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise within the Product Engineering group which consists of a multidisciplinary group of engineers and scientists that supports plutonium programs. Individuals working in this position will directly support the operations necessary to ensure high-quality production. Basic knowledge of engineering design. Demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly in oral and written communications. Basic knowledge along with any class project experience with analysis or testing in one or more of the following engineering areas: Manufacturing Materials Mechanical, Chemical process Data acquisition and Data analysis Qualifications: Active Q clearance Experience in various work environments Demonstrated knowledge or experience working in a manufacturing or production organization requiring implementation of defined manufacturing, testing and quality requirements. Interdisciplinary project experience with varied technical backgrounds within a group. Willingness to take initiative on new tasks or projects. Quality and Improvement Demonstrated knowledge and experience with system and subsystem qualification testing and/or analysis. Demonstrated knowledge of conduct of operations principles. Demonstrated experience performing engineering work using rigorous institutional processes. Technical Knowledge Materials Selection/Design Non-destructive evaluation techniques (ex: radiography) Microscopy/Image Analysis Maintainability/Reliability Certification Materials Characterization Data Analysis Chemical Analysis Electrochemistry Metallurgy experience Computational modeling Computer programming Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution related to the occupation combined with 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience directly related to the occupation.
