Landscape Designer
Position Core Profile
The Landscape Designer is responsible for planning, designing, and developing innovative landscape layouts and proposals that meet client specifications and enhance both aesthetics and functionality. The Landscape Designer collaborates closely with Account Managers to sell enhancement services and ensure that project designs are accurately represented and executed in the field. This role requires a Landscape Designer with technical expertise, creativity, and strong communication skills to support internal teams and exceed customer expectations.
Key Differentiators
Creative Design & Proposal Development: The Landscape Designer produces detailed and visually compelling master plans, redesigns, annual color plans, entrance designs, and proposals for residential and commercial clients.
Sales & Client Support: The Landscape Designer works alongside Account Managers during client meetings, providing design consultation and supporting enhancement sales opportunities through professional presentations.
Field Integration & Quality Control: The Landscape Designer conducts site visits, ensures field measurement accuracy, and oversees installation quality to confirm that all landscape designs are executed as intended.
Technical Expertise: The Landscape Designer reads and interprets scaled drawings, produces CAD-based renderings, and ensures timely delivery of complete design packages.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: The Landscape Designer supports branch teams with estimating, sourcing, and operational coordination, including material orders, Gantt maps, and recruitment efforts.
Accountabilities
Design and Proposal Creation: The Landscape Designer plans and creates comprehensive landscape designs that align with client needs and project scopes (residential plans, enhancements, seasonal plantings, BB/mass bids). They utilize CAD and other design software, conduct field observations, and deliver high-quality design packages on schedule.
Client Interaction and Sales Support: The Landscape Designer partners with Account Managers to prepare for enhancement opportunities and client presentations. They attend client meetings, perform site visits, and translate feedback into actionable design adjustments.
Project Execution and Oversight: The Landscape Designer provides quality control oversight during installations to ensure alignment with approved designs, answers plant-related questions, and supports sourcing and coordination of plant materials and hard goods.
Team Collaboration and Support: The Landscape Designer assists branch leaders and Account Managers with complex designs, estimates, and enhancement opportunities.
Experience and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
Experience: 2–4 years of professional experience as a Landscape Designer , in landscape design, estimating, or horticulture.
Licensing/Certification: Valid state driver's license preferred.
Skills:
Planning & Organization: The Landscape Designer manages multiple projects and ensures timely delivery.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication with clients and internal teams.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software and digital design tools.
Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to read scaled drawings, estimate dimensions, and calculate areas/volumes.
Problem-Solving: The Landscape Designer adapts quickly and provides solutions in dynamic field environments.
