Summary

The Head of Sales and Marketing is responsible for driving sales growth, maximizing profitability, and enhancing brand awareness through strategic sales and marketing initiatives. This role requires a strong leader to manage and motivate inside and outside sales teams, oversee national accounts, and strengthen Paraco’s presence in the residential and commercial propane markets. Additionally, this leader will determine the resources needed to manage overall sales, marketing, and budget. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven, results-oriented professional who can align sales efforts with innovative marketing strategies to accelerate customer acquisition, retention, and overall business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Business Development

  • Lead and manage a diverse sales team across entire Paraco Territory
  • Develop strategic partnerships (network partners) to cultivate and generate new sales opportunities
  • Modify or change sales compensation plans and sales contracts as needed
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy by geographic markets and market segments to drive propane sales, ensuring maximum gross profit margins and sales volume.
  • Oversee national accounts, fostering strong relationships and negotiating large-scale propane supply agreements.
  • Collaborate closely with the M&A team to integrate acquisitions into the sales process, maximizing growth opportunities.
  • Partner with the Finance team to develop competitive pricing strategies and bid/proposal agreements aligned with market demands and company goals.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and professional development to sales representatives, ensuring they are equipped to handle objections and close sales effectively.
  • Utilize sales data, metrics, and analytics to forecast trends, identify opportunities, and guide strategic decision-making.

Marketing Strategy & Brand Development

  • Develop and implement a multi-channel marketing strategy that strengthens Paraco’s brand, increases awareness, and converts leads into customers.
  • Oversee digital marketing, content creation, email campaigns, social media, SEO, and paid advertising efforts.
  • Align marketing initiatives with sales objectives to ensure a cohesive go-to-market strategy that enhances customer acquisition and retention.
  • Leverage market research, competitive analysis, and customer insights to refine messaging, optimize campaigns, and enhance Paraco’s industry positioning.
  • Plan and oversee marketing campaigns, promotional events, and sponsorship opportunities to elevate Paraco’s brand presence.
  • Lead trade show participation and industry events, ensuring Paraco is well-represented in key markets.

Customer Experience & Retention

  • Work cross-functionally with Operations and Customer Service teams to enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Leverage CRM tools and personalized marketing strategies to improve customer engagement, retention, and loyalty.
  • Develop initiatives that strengthen Paraco’s relationship with customers, ensuring a seamless transition from marketing to sales and post-sale service.

Leadership & Strategic Influence

  • Act as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to long-term strategic planning and company growth initiatives.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure Paraco remains competitive in the energy market.
  • Represent Paraco at industry events, networking opportunities, and thought leadership engagements to enhance the company’s credibility and influence.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Requirements

Sales & Marketing Leadership

  • 10+ years of experience in sales and marketing leadership
  • Demonstrated success in managing high-performance sales teams and executing effective marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in handling large sales, proposals, and complex transactions in the energy sector.
  • Strong ability to translate sales objectives into actionable marketing strategies.

Strategic & Data-Driven Approach

  • Proficiency in sales analytics, forecasting, and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in pricing strategy, revenue optimization, and gross margin analysis.
  • Ability to analyze customer data and market trends to inform decision-making.

Exceptional Leadership & Communication

  • Proven track record of hiring, training, and motivating sales and marketing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present, negotiate, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment between sales, marketing, operations, and finance.

Industry Knowledge & Travel Requirements

  • Understanding of the propane industry, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment.
  • Must be willing to travel (up to 75%) across Paraco’s geographic footprint.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle (car allowance provided).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field
