Position Overview:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage our financial transactions. This remote position will play a key role in ensuring our construction projects run smoothly from a financial perspective, including overseeing sales tax, corporate filings, and wage reporting. You will collaborate closely with our CPA firm and internal teams to provide accounting support for all aspects of our business.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in the construction industry and knowledge of California state wage laws and Hourly Prevailing Wage reporting to the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).

Key Responsibilities:

• QuickBooks Online Management: Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process, ensuring accuracy in general ledger entries.
• Sales Tax Filing: Manage and prepare all sales tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Corporate Filings: Assist with maintaining proper documentation and filing corporate taxes, permits, and licenses.
• Prevailing Wage Reporting: Understand California’s prevailing wage requirements, submit certified payrolls to DIR, and ensure compliance with state regulations.
• Support CPA: Work with our external CPA firm to provide necessary financial data, answer inquiries, and ensure smooth year-end reporting and tax preparation.
• Invoicing & Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, manage A/R, A/P, and ensure accurate tracking of expenses related to construction projects.
• Payroll: Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure proper reporting and timely payment of wages, including compliance with California wage laws.
• Financial Reporting: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper in the construction industry.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online and experienced in managing accounting systems.
• Understanding of California wage laws and Hourly Prevailing Wage compliance.
• Strong familiarity with sales tax reporting and corporate filings.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Proficient in communication tools like Slack, Asana, and Google Suite.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, self-motivated, and reliable.
• Knowledge of DIR reporting is a strong plus.
