First Shift Crane Operator

Charter Manufacturing Niles Iron and Metal Company facility is currently looking to fill our 1st-Shift Crane Operator position. Crane operators load scrap metal into shearing and bailing machines and load and unload trucks and railcars as needed. 

What do you need to know about the job?

• Hourly Pay - $21.25/hr.
• Shift -This is a First Shift job, (5am-4pm Monday-Friday and 5am-12pm Saturdays)
• Location – 700 S. Main St. Niles, OH 44446

POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:

Load scrap metal into shearing and bailing machines. Load and unload trucks and railcars as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Constant sitting.
• Occasional push/pull.
• Minimal standing, walking, climbing, balancing, reaching over 15” away from the body, and reaching above shoulder.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as provided in detail in the Job Analysis Database.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to be self-driven.
• Proficient in basic math skills. 
• Basic communication skills.
• Ability to work well with other employees.
• Ability to follow and give instructions.
• Basic problem-solving skills.
• Previous experience operating a mobile crane

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of different types of scrap metal.
• Certification in Crane use

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Operate Ecrane or Crawler cranes to load scrap metal into shearing and bailing machines.
• Operate Ecrane or Crawler cranes to load and unload trucks and railcars as needed.
• Move cranes to different metal and scrap areas of the yard.
• Sort out loads and clean out spreads.
• Ensure a safe work environment and contribute to a highly engaging culture that fosters safety, continuous improvement, teamwork, and trust.
