Position: Database Operations Manager

Location: San Jose / San Francisco, CA​- hybrid- Weekly 4 days onsite

Hire: Contract

The role combines deep technical oversight with strategic collaboration across Application teams, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant database operations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a database operations team, encompassing traditional DBA functions, automation and compliance oversight.
• Own operational excellence across 200+ database instances, driving improvements in reliability, monitoring and incident response,
• Collaborate cross-functionally with application teams to support secure, high-performing, and scalable data architecture.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and enterprise operations support teams to drive database initiatives.
• Establish and enforce standardized operational procedures, fostering a high-accountability, performance-driven team culture.
• Lead root cause analysis for database related incidents.
• Champion modernization initiatives with a strong emphasis on automation and scalability.
• Provide executive-level reporting on database uptime, capacity, performance, and risk across critical systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience managing enterprise-scale, heterogeneous database environments (Oracle, SQL Server, and NoSQL).
• Bring a background as a hands-on DBA or data engineer, now operating in a leadership capacity.
