Chestnut Ridge Church ( is seeking a full-time Community Life Pastor to join our leadership team, and develop and implement a comprehensive Community Strategy to foster connection, spiritual growth, care, and outreach within our church family.
We are located in the educational, commercial, medical and cultural hub of north-central West Virginia. Home of the Division I, Big 12 West Virginia University Mountaineers, Morgantown is recognized as one of the best small cities in which to live, work and raise a family.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive, geography-based Community strategy to enable our entire church family to live out the Great Commandment and Great Commission every day where we live, work, play, and go to school.
- Embrace and promote a framework that encompasses the strength and importance of corporate worship on Sundays (in-person and online), AND ongoing discipleship and evangelism efforts Monday to Saturday.
- Lead our church family in nurturing relationships with God and others through Next Steps / Spiritual Growth Opportunities, including but not limited to Bible reading plans, prayer plans, physical and digital resources, salvation/new believer follow up, baptism, serving, in-person and online classes on various subjects, and easy next steps to join and participate in their local geographic communities.
- Oversee The Ridge's Care Ministry and staff and ensure measures are in place to serve and care for our church family physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
- Oversee The Ridge's Foster WV and Outreach ministries as integral to spiritual growth and loving our local and global neighbors well.
Qualifications:
- Spiritually mature believer with a humble and teachable spirit and a pastoral heart.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of demonstrated ministry leadership.
- Experience teaching in large group settings is preferred.
- Experience in a church with over 2,000 members is also preferred.
- Organized and able to effectively manage time and multiple projects.
- Action-oriented and displays focus, passion, and initiative.
- Committed to improvement, seeks and receives constructive criticism, and understands strengths and weaknesses.
- Strong written and oral communicator.
- Familiarity and/or experience with Chestnut Ridge Church ministries is a plus.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
