Position Description The Department of Health and Human Performance , with over 40 full-time faculty, serves approximately 2,300 students seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise & Sports Science, Public Health, Recreation & Sport Management, and Recreational Therapy. Texas State University also offers a comprehensive employee wellness program led by an interdisciplinary research team that provides opportunities for collaborative studies.
The Exercise and sports science program offers a BS in Exercise & Sports Science with concentrations in Pre-Rehabilitation Science, Clinical Exercise Science, and Physical Education Teacher Certification; a BS in Health & Fitness Management; and a MS in Exercise Science.
The Department of Health and Human Performance is seeking applicants to fill a non-tenure-line position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction to teach in the undergraduate exercise and sports science program at the Collin College campus as part of the Texas State University-Collin College partnership.
Applicants with diverse expertise in all areas related to exercise and sports science are invited to apply, with particular consideration given to candidates with past university teaching experience in a variety exercise and sports science courses. This position is a non-tenure-line, nine-month faculty of instruction position with a renewable five-year contract subject to enrollment needs and annual reappointment review.
The individual selected for this position will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in the BS in Exercise and Sports Science program as departmental needs require, as well as oversee the exercise physiology teaching laboratory. Other responsibilities will include service to the department and the university, community outreach, mentoring students, and general academic and career advising and assistance. This position is subject to the availability of funds. Teaching is planned to be in-person at the assigned Collin College campus.
Required Qualifications - Earned master's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field by date of hire
- Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate students
Preferred Qualifications - Earned doctorate exercise science, kinesiology, or related field by date of hire
- Demonstrable evidence of high-quality teaching a variety of exercise and sports science courses at the university level
- Demonstrable evidence of using a variety of instructional strategies, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery, experiential learning, or field-based experiences to engage students
- Commitment to working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other institutional employees
